Renovations

We know reno’s mean more than just updated decor. Let us help you achieve your dream home and improve it’s efficiency along the way.

I'm passionate about innovation and evolution.

That's why Chiorando Homes is centered on densification - because the future of homebuilding isn't about more space, but about better space. I take pride in helping families unlock the full potential of their homes and properties.

By transforming existing spaces into something more functional, or by creating something new - I want to help my neighbours add value and opportunity to their little piece of Vancouver Island.

I've been drawn to construction for as long as I can remember.

Growing up, my dad worked as a painter. By the age of seven, I was already tagging along to job sites, eager to lend a hand. I've always been a big dreamer, so it wasn't long before my ambitions grew beyond just helping my dad - I set my sights on running my own construction projects.

I continued working with him throughout my elementary and high school years before heading off to university, where I studied psychology and business. I figured that if I was going to lead teams, I should understand both the people I'd be working with, and the principles of running a successful business.

After completing my studies, I wanted to expand my experience in construction, particularly in management. Though my ultimate goal was always to build homes, I believed that managing large-scale projects would refine my skills in handling smaller ones. That pursuit took me north, where I spent five years as the Procurement and Logistics Manager for a major industrial construction company. During that time I also earned my Red Seal designation as a materials technician, an achievement that sharpened my ability to coordinate the intricate details of a project while keeping sight of the bigger picture.

Eventually, the constant travel to Northern Alberta wore thin, and I returned home to focus on residential construction. Drawing on my large-scale project management experience, I oversaw the construction of approximately 50 homes in five years while working with a local builder and completing the necessary courses to obtain my own builders license and warranty.

Our mission:

The future of homebuilding is densification – We are big believers in maximizing living spaces and encouraging multigenerational living.

With the addition of a carriage home, portable office or hobby shed, we want to help our neighbours achieve their property’s potential.

We want to share the sense of pride that comes when your space can change; making room for a loved one, generating extra income or becoming a new and productive place to work/create.

If we can help a family optimize their home, that is a huge win.

What Our Clients Say

“Our finances were tight when we took on our reno, but Mike made it work. We were stressed about the timeline and investment, but our concerns were always addressed by Mike and his team. It felt like no question was a silly one, and I appreciated that! We ended up with a functional, legal and beautiful basement suite – on budget.”

Shannon W.

“Mike was the Residential Construction Manager on my new build house in Nanaimo, completed in August 2020.  In all my dealings with Mike, he was both very professional and personable.  Any issues were dealt with promptly, efficiently and with very good results.  It was a pleasure to work with Mike.”
